Herkimer College student stabbed early Wednesday

(WKTV) - One person was injured Wednesday after a stabbing on the campus of Herkimer College.

Campus safety says a woman was assaulted just before 2 a.m. at the Reservoir Run Apartment Complex. According to officials, a woman was stabbed in the shoulder blade with a kitchen knife by another female student after an argument.

The victim was treated and released at Little Falls Hospital.

Inesha Briggs, 19, of Herkimer, was charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon.

Briggs is being held at the Herkimer County Correctional Facilty on $25,000 bail. She has been temporarily suspended pending a judical hearing.

College officials say the case remains under investigation. They call the stabbing an isolated incident.
