UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Monday was World Wish Day and it was celebrated in star-studded style in the City of Utica. Dunkin Donuts and Make-a-Wish Central New York teamed up at the north Utica Dunkin location. World Wish Day marks the anniversary of the first wish granted in 1980. To mark the occasion on Monday, anyone who made a $1 donation to the Make-A-Wish Foundation received a 'star' donut. A local family whose daughter had her wish granted was also onhand to hand out the treats. "She went to Disney World," said Ciara Parrish, mother of a Make-A-Wish Child. "Her wish was to meet princesses, and she certainly did and it was the most magical memories that she had, and the family has." Since 1980, more than 300,000 children have had their wishes fulfilled by Make-A-Wish.
