State Police: No abduction took place in Vernon

VERNON, N. Y. (WKTV) - State Police are investigating an incident that took place Thursday evening in Vernon. The initial call was that a woman had been abducted by two men in a pickup truck, but State Police say that was not the case.

It started along Route 5 in Vernon where officers were on the lookout for the truck. The vehicle was spotted on Route 26 near Knoxboro Road in Augusta. State Police located the woman inside the truck, along with a male driver and another male passenger. All parties involved say no abduction took place.

The officers were questioning each of the passengers individually to determine what actually took place. State Police say charges could be filed but abduction or kidnapping charges will not be among them. Stay with NEWSChannel 2 as more details are released.
