No leads, no background on shooting suspect's motive

HERKIMER COUNTY, N.Y. (WKTV) - New York State Police are coming up empty-handed in their ongoing quest for answers as to why gunman Kurt Myers went on a shooting spree in Herkimer County last week, shooting six people, killing four.

Investigators say there is no indication as to why Myers chose John's Barber Shop in Mohawk and Gaffey's Fast Lube in Herkimer, or why he chose the four people he did. Michael Renshaw, Michael Ransear, Harry Montgomery and Thomas Stefka died in the shooting; John Seymour and Dan Haslauer are recovering from their injuries.

Investigators say that, in spite of the fact that the local NYS Police phone number has been put out all over the country, they have not received a single call from anyone who knew Myers and could offer any insight as to his motive for the shooting.

State Police have gone back to Myer's high school life. None of the few acquaintances they located kept in touch with Myers as an adult.
