State Police looking for more victims in sex trafficking ring
UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - According to authorities, the most recent arrests of nine people in regarding to the sex trafficking ring stems from the prostituting out of a 16-year-old girl. In a Friday afternoon press conference, State Police officials announced the girl was a runaway who was picked up back in February in downtown Utica by a cab driven by 35-yea-old Jakeem Penn.
Investigators say Penn, of Utica, befriended the girl and bought her personal items and eventually introduced the girl to 23 year old Alexandria Davall of Utica with the intent she may be used to make money through prostitution.
Authorities would not say the name of the cab service in which Penn worked for. They do say Alexandria Davall handed the teen over to Lynnette Tilden of Utica and her brother Edward Tilden who began using the online site called BackPage.com to sell the girl for the purpose of sexual acts.
Police say after their nine month investigation, they believe the two Tildens prostituted out other young females as well. Major Rodney Campbell led Friday's Press Conference and said, "We're quite convinced that there are 8 to 10 other girls involved with these individuals."
Anyone with information on any other potential victims is asked to call State Police at (315) 366-6000.
Aklexandria Davall, Lynnette Tilden and Edwards Tilden are all charged with Sex Trafficking. Jakeem Penn is charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
Four Utica area men are charged with sex crimes for having sexual contact with the 16-year-old girl.
Michael Olsen, 25, of Verona and 56 year old David Jamrosz of New York Mills are charged with Criminal Sex Act. Michael Curcio, 22, of Whitesboro and Rosheen Brooks, 32, of Utica are charged with Rape.
Meanwhile, a ninth person, Cutis O'Dell, 61, of Utica has been charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Police say under the direction of the two Tildens, O'Dell drove the 16 year old to the sexual encounters.
Investigators also say the two Tildens also forced the 16 year old to take cocaine and heroin before the arranged sexual encounters so she would do what the 'Johns' wanted her to do. Police say the Tildens forced the girl to have sex to repay them for giving her a place to live after she ran away from home.
Police say the alleged sexual encounters took place at Utica area hotels.
