State Police: wrong-way driver causes crash on Route 49 in Marcy

MARCY, N.Y. (WKTV) - Two women were sent to the hospital Sunday evening after a two-car accident on Route 49 in the Town of Marcy.

According to New York State Police, at roughly 6:20 p.m. on Sunday, April 8, a vehicle driven by Judith E. Shultes, of Berne, was traveling westbound in the eastbound lane of Route 49 in Marcy when it collided with a vehicle drive by Kayleigh L. Caruso, of Utica, who authorities said was traveling in the correct direction.

Authorities said both parties were transported to St Elizabeth Medical Center for various non-life threatening injuries.

Oneida County Sheriff's dept and Maynard Fire assisted with the investigation.

Shultes was ticketed for multiple vehicle and traffic infractions returnable in the Town of Marcy Court.
