State of Emergency declared in Otsego County

OTSEGO COUNTY, N.Y. (WKTV) - A State of Emergency has been declared in in Otsego County and continuing until further notice due to emergency conditions caused by heavy and continuing rainfall and flooding.

All roads are closed with the exception of emergency traffic until further notice.

State, County and Local DPW's and Local Emergency Responders have been and are engaged in numerous emergency operations.

The City of Oneonta also announced they are closing the flood control barriers at Neahwa Park and that no traffic is allowed in the park until further notice.

Due to the extensive flooding, the American Red Cross has opened an Emergency Shelter at the St. Luke's Church, 139 West Main Street in Sidney.

A conserve water order was placed into effect shortly after 6 p.m. Wednesday night in the Village of Morris as a result of flooding at the pump station. The Village Supervisor said the order was in effect until further notice. water order until further said overflowing water were coming up into the pump station, forcing officials to pull the pumps. The Village Supervisor said he would notify the public as soon as the order is lifted.
