State police investigating fatal auto-pedestrian accident in Madison County

(WKTV) - New York State Police are investigating an auto-pedestrian crash in the Town of Sullivan in Madison County.

According to officials, around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, a GMC Sierra pickup driven by Gerald P. Case, 34, of Kirkville, was driving on State Route 31 near Petrie Road in the Town of Sullivan. A pedestrian, Matthew D. Brownell, 26, of Bridgeport, N.Y., appears to have walked into the roadway and into the path of the truck.

Brownell was transported to University Hospital, where he died. The investigation is continuing.
