Strides Against Breast Cancer campaign kicks off with breakfast

By WKTV News

(WKTV) - Team leaders are already getting motivated to raise money for the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer campaign, even though the walk isn't until October.

A breakfast took place Tuesday at Hart's Hill to get the ball rolling. Last year, 4,000 walkers raised $230,000. The event as a whole raises funds for research and patient care, but just as importantly, raises awareness.

"I think we have wonderful people here who are so touched by breast cancer and who are really great at giving back to the American Cancer Society," said Amanda Sagendorf of the American Cancer Society. "If they are a survivor or have a family member, they want to give back to other people who might run into this disease."

This year's walk is Oct. 19 at the Masonic Care Community. Call 315-724-8126, Ext. 212 for more information.
