Stuff the Bus Camp Out kicks off in New Hartford

NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. (WKTV) -- Santa's sleigh has a whole new look this year! It's an RV parked in the New Hartford Shopping center as part of the Stuff the Bus Camp Out!

Mark Piersma from WUTQ will be sleeping in the RV from Monday, Dec. 9 through Friday, Dec. 13 collecting toys for local families in need. You can drop off a toy at any time, day or night.

"What you're really doing when you donate for us, is you're helping your kid's classmate, your neighbor, your co-worker, anybody that's really, maybe on tough times. Nobody wants a kid to go without on Christmas. They can't help the situation they're in, so we'd like to help them out and we can't do that unless you bring us toys down here at the shopping center," said Piersma.

The toys donated to Stuff the Bus will go to 13 local agencies. The donations stay local in the Mohawk Valley.

The final day of the Stuff the Bus campaign is Dec. 14 at the Herb Phillipson locations in Rome, Herkimer and Oneida from noon to 2 p.m.
