Taberg stand-off suspect arraigned and sent to jail
TABERG, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Taberg man accused of being involved in a eight-hour police stand-off Friday evening has been arraigned
The Oneida County Sheriff's Department says Daniel Bragg, 41, barricaded himself inside of a home on Pond Hill Road after members of the Oneida County Sheriff's Department tried arresting him on two warrants. Officers attempted to use gas to get Bragg to come out of the home. When that didn't work, they entered the home around 9pm and found him in the basement. Officials say Bragg did not fight them and was taken into custody peacefully. Bragg was charged in relation to the original domestic incident that took place Thursday night at the same location. Charges have not been filed yet for Friday's incident. Lt. James McCarthy says the department had two warrants for Bragg's arrest. One was for menacing, the other was for criminal possession of a weapon. It was around 1pm Friday afternoon when law enforcement officials attempted to make an arrest, when Bragg locked himself inside. A stand-off followed for the next eight hours. Many people who live in the area were not allowed to return home. During the stand-off, law enforcement members were "erring on the side of caution." Lt. McCarthy said they knew Bragg had high-powered weapons inside the home. Officials say weapons were seized from the home. Bragg is being held at the Oneida County Correctional Facility in lieu of $100,000 bail and he is scheduled to return to court at a later date. |
