Taste of New York opens on Thruway stop

(WKTV) - Governor Andrew Cuomo made a stop at the Taste of New York store in the new Baltimore Service area on the New York State Thruway Wednesday.

It's the first service area to offer the products year round and more stores in service areas along the thruway are expected to open in the future.

The Taste of New York initiative was spearheaded by the governor and is designed to highlight the state's agriculture, culinary, and tourism.

Some of the farms and businesses featured include:

New York State Maple and Apple products

Ronnybrook Farms in Columbia County

Yancey's Fancy New York Artisan Cheese in Genesee County

McCadam Cheese in Franklin County

Nelson Farms in Madison County

Red Jacket Orchards in Ontario County

Merle Maple Farm in Wyoming County

Mad Foodz in Allegany County

Joe's Jerky in Oneida County

Rob Salamida Company in Broome County
