Teen arrested in Utica after suspected gun possession, resisting arrest


UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Utica Police Department announced the arrest of a 14-year old male, Friday.

According to Police, at approximately 2:50 p.m. on Thursday, October 31st, officers responded to a report of a man with a gun in his waistband on Mohawk St. in Utica.

When officers arrived and approached the suspect, he immediately fled, and was pursued by Police on foot.

The chase continued for several blocks, through residential yards, before the suspect was taken into custody.

The suspect turned out to be a 14 years old, and was arrested for Obstructing Governmental Administration, and Resisting Arrest, both misdemeanors.

Officers said that no gun was present on the suspect at the time of the arrest, but that he may have dumped it during the chase.

Two officers were injured in the pursuit, after chasing the suspect over a fence and through the yards.

The case has been referred to Oneida County Family Court.
