Teen arrested in Utica for robbery


UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Utica Police Department announced the arrest of a 15-year old male for robbery on Thursday.

At approximately 11:30 a.m., Wednesday morning, officers responded to an alleged robbery that had taken place at the 1500 block of Lenox Avenue.

When they arrived on the scene, they spoke with a woman, unidentified at this time, who claimed that she was pushed to the ground with her face held onto the pavement, before the suspect grabbed her purse and fled the scene.

She also said that she had several electronic devices of significant value in her purse, and gave the police a detailed description of the suspect.

Following the initial investigation, officers searched the area, spotting a man who fit the description given by the victim. As they approached the man, he ran from polic,e sparking an extended pursuit on foot, police say.

Eventually officers were able to subdue the man, finding the victim's property in his possession, and took him into custody. Utica Police then learned that the suspect was 15.

His case has been turned over to the Juvenile Aid Unit, and the charges are still pending in Oneida County Family Court.
