Thanksgiving baskets distributed to 64 local families

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Thanks to the Center for Family Life and Recovery, 64 families in need will be able to enjoy fresh pie, vegetables, and turkey on this Thanksgiving Day.

"We just had a few families stop in and to see the shock on their face knowing that they are going to be receiving a Thanksgiving meal but then to get here and realize they are receiving more that," said Katrena Freetage, Communication Director for Center for Family Life and Recovery. "Anywhere between 4 to 8 boxes of food for them and their families. It's a wonderful thing."

On Tuesday, volunteers from the organization as well BNY Mellon and Chanatry's, who are sponsoring the drive, distributed food to families who were chosen based on their financial need.

In addition to Thanksgiving meals, the center is also giving out food for pets and toys for children this holiday season.
