The Home Show kicks off at Turning Stone Resort and Casino

By NICOLE PITT

VERONA, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Home Show got underway Friday inside the Event Center at the Turning Stone Resort and Casino and from lighting, to windows, even landscaping, there are more than 200 booths set up representing more than 150 companies.

"Everything you can imagine, all of your interior remodeling products, exterior remodeling, windows, doors, a lot of bathrooms this year," said Scot Hayes of New York Sash as well as organizer of the event of what can be found at the show.

"The kitchen is always an interesting spot, so we're having a good time looking at the countertops and kitchen refinishing, cabinet refinishing, things of that nature," said Jim Poley of Delhi, New York, who was at the show.

This year there are more booths all about making sure your home is energy efficient, with some vendors offering a free inspection to make sure your home isn't wasting energy.

"Then it's up to you if you need or want to do anything, but of course, it's like a doctor's check-up," said Larry Sproles of HALCO. "If everything is fine, it's fine and you're glad to know that too."

Most of the vendors are from companies based right in Central New York

"I think there is an advantage of buying local and working with local people," Poley said. "You know, you support the local area, but you know, also the service."

New to the show this year are residential windmills; there are a couple vendors set up discussing the topic and they'll tell you whether or not it's worth the price of installation.

Admission to The Home Show is $7 for adults and free or those 16 years old and younger.

The show runs until 8 p.m. on Friday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
