UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Hundreds of dancers will grace the stage of the Stanley Theater this weekend at the Legacy Dance Championships.
Legacy Dance group is based out of Long Island but brings dancers from around the country together and this weekend it is their first time using the Stanley stage.
The dancers who participate range from age three to 17 and perform various dances throughout the weekend.
Friday evening consisted of teenage solo performers, Saturday will be the evening of group competitions and Sunday will be the grand finale, featuring the senior dancer solo performances.
Jesadies Budden of the Legacy Dance Group said she was honored to be in Utica and was astounded by the Stanley Theater.
"We all generally love what we do because we are working with kids and dancers," Budden said. "A lot of us are dancers so the excitement is genuine and real we're excited to see new talent."
The doors open to the public at 7a.m. on Saturday, May 3. The competition is from 8a.m. until 10:15p.m. On Sunday, May 4 the doors open to the public at 7a.m. The competition begins at 8a.m. and ends at 9:30p.m.
Admission is free and open to the public.
