Thomas Lindsey Foundation holds golf tournament in honor of fallen officer

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Thomas Lindsey Foundation is taking donations to help with various programs throughout the year and one of two fund raisers this weekend is already helping the cause.

The 5th annual Thomas Lindsey Golf Tournament was held at Valley View on Friday where hundreds took part to support the foundation and remember a great guy.

Utica Police Officer Thomas Lindsey was shot and killed in 2007 during a traffic stop on Neilson Street.

The foundation is keeping his memory alive with the "Shop with a Cop" program among other initiatives.

"Tom was a great friend of all of ours," said Investigator Greg Facciolo. "He liked to go out and have a good time. He would definitely enjoy it today. We have 168 golfers this year as it is every year, so we are over booked every year. It's been great weather. We're happy with the turn out."

The second major fundraiser of the year is
The Brothers Forever Ride, which gets underway Saturday.
