Three UPD officers injured chasing 14-year-old suspect

(WKTV) - Three police officers were injured Thursday after pursuing a 14-year-old, Utica police said.

The 14-year-old boy is charged with two misdemeanor charges of obstructing governmental administration and resisting arrest.

According to police, around 2:50 p.m. Thursday, officers responded to the area of Mohawk Street for the report of a male suspect with a gun in his waistband. When officers approached the suspect, he immediately fled with officers in pursuit. The chase continued for several blocks, including through yards.

While the suspect was eventually arrested, three officers were injured in the pursuit. One sustained a serious knee injury when he followed the suspect over the fence. One injured his shoulder after falling on the wet ground and another officer received a minor hand injury.

The case has been referred to Oneida County Family Court.
