(WKTV) - Three area men were arrested at the Walmart in New Hartford on Thursday after a retired officer noticed possible drug activity, the New Hartford Police Department said.
Joshua F. Jones, 29, of Marcy, was charged with criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument. Kevin L. Lamb, 21, of Rome, and Richard K. Loomis, 23, of Camden, were charged with criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree and criminal possession of a stolen property.
According to officials, on Thursday, a retired officer noticed suspicious activity in the parking lot of the Walmart on Commercial Drive in New Hartford and contacted the police.
An officer arrived and spoke with Jones, who was taken into custody for allegedly having hypodermic syringes. While he was being arrested, two men who may have been involved with the possible drug activity, were spotted walking out of the store with a shopping cart full of items from the store. The merchandise was determined to be stolen and was valued at about $1,272.
Jones was issued an appearance ticket. Lamb and Loomis were sent to the Oneida County Correctional Facility. Bail was set at $6,000 each.
