(WKTV) - Three Chenango County residents face charges after an investigation into the distribution of heroin in the area, the Chenango County Sheriff's Office said.
Ashley Wakefield, 28, of the City of Norwich is charged with attempted criminal sale of a controlled substance in the third degree, conspiracy in the fourth degree, criminally possessing a hypodermic instrument and criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Keith Johnson, 22, of the Town of New Berlin, is charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree. Andrew Cleveland, 23, of the Town of New Berlin was charged with facilitation in the fourth degree.
According to officials, Wakefield and Johnson attempted to sell heroin to an undercover police officer in the Town of Norwich. Johnson was found to have 10 bags of heroin in his possession after a K9 dog alerted on the drugs, the sheriff's office said. Wakefield allegedly had a hypodermic needle and prescription drugs on her.
Wakefield was sent to Chenango County Correctional Facility on $5,000 cash bail. Johnson was sent to the Chenango County Correctional Facility on $10,000 cash bail and Cleveland was released on an appearance ticket.
