(WKTV) - Three people face conspiracy charges after a response to a shots fired call in Floyd, Oneida County Sheriff's office said.
According to Sheriff Robert Maciol, at about 2:04 a.m. Friday, deputies responded to the area of Soule Road at Edwards Road in the Town of Floyd. Deputies spoke to a person who said he woke up after shots were fired right outside his home.
A vehicle stop in the area led to deputies talking to Morgan Weiler, 20, of Floyd. After an interview, deputies found she was with three men and they were spotlighting deer in the area, officials said.
Two of the men were located by deputies and members of the New York State Police in the woods. After interviewing the men, it was determined that Joshua Tanner, 22, of Floyd shot from inside the vehicle at a deer in a field just off the road. The second man was identified as Alan Tanner, 25, of Floyd.
The three were charged with conspiracy in the sixth degree and several other environmental conservation citations by the Department of Environmental Conservation, who also assisted in the investigation.
The case is still under investigation. The three were issued appearance tickets.
