Train show aims at enthusing youth of timeless tradition

By WKTV News

MOHAWK, N.Y. (WKTV) - The second Annual Fun Track Train Club Show was at Fisher Elementary School in Mohawk on Sunday.
The show was started by educators as a way to introduce the traditional hobby of trains to children.
Children who attended the event got the chance to see the trains, learn how they work, and see first-hand whether or not this could be a hobby for them.
"It's not the end-all be-all, but it lets them know it's out there," said former superintendent Gene Beirne. "It's creative, it's got engineering aspects, so its multi-faceted."

The people who organize the event hope to continue to build the show into a yearly occurrence.
