Transportation issues delay Little Falls murder trial

By MEGAN KOSKOVICH

HERKIMER, N.Y. (WKTV) - Transportation issues have delayed the bizarre murder case of a Little Falls man.

Jennifer Riesel was supposed to be in Herkimer County Court on Thursday for a pre-trial hearing. She is charged with second-degree murder for the death of Francis Nelson. Riesel is currently serving time in a downstate prison for an unrelated grand larceny charge. The judge said that because of transportation issues, Riesel wouldn't be present. He did not say what caused the issues.

Nelson was found near his car on Eatonville Road in September 2011. Police say his hands and feet were tied and he had been run over by a car. According to investigators, Riesel told them that Nelson had agreed to pay her thousands of dollars to take his life because he was terminally ill. His family says they don't believe he was sick.

A new court date has been set for February 1.
