(WKTV) - Central Valley Board of Education members say they will appoint former Ilion Superintendent Gary Tutty as interim superintendent of the district during a meeting Monday.
Tutty has served in many school administration positions, include superintendent of Morris, Ilion and Putnam Valley districts, as well as interim superintendent of West Canada Valley and Herkimer. Tutty will serve as Central Valley interim superintendent through the end of 2014.
Superintendent Cosimo Tangorra resigned on July 9 to accept a position as the New York State Education Department deputy commissioner for the Office of P-12 Education.
Central Valley board members intend to narrow choices for a permanent superintendent to six finalists in September and select a superintendent by Oct. 15. The board wants the new superintendent to start Jan. 5.
The board is hosting an online survey asking Central Valley residents to weigh in on what they're looking for in the new superintendent. To take the survey, visit www.cvalleyvsd.org or www.surveymonkey.com/s/CVsuperintendent.
Surveys must be completed by Aug. 1.
