Two area men sentenced in string of bank robberies

(WKTV) - Two area men have been sentenced to three years in federal prison for a string of bank robberies earlier this year.

Nicholas Ferrone, 22, of Utica and Zachariah Edwards of Frankfort were sentenced Tuesday in federal court in Syracuse.

Both men pleaded guilty to robbing banks in New York and Syracuse in May.

According to federal authorities, the banks the pair robbed together were:

Chase Bank, 6004 Court St. in Syracuse on Jan. 14.

Berkshire Bank, 2080 Western Ave. in Guilderland on Jan. 23.

Chase Bank, 4425 E. Genesee St. in Dewitt on Jan. 28.

Trustco Bank, 2050 Western Ave. in Guilderland on Feb. 13.

Bank of America in Chicopee, Mass., on Feb. 25.

M&T Bank at 5170 W. Taft Road in Syracuse on March 4.

Papers filed with the court in March linked Ferrone to a robbery of the Alliance Bank at 142 Genesee St. in Oneida on Jan. 3.
