NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. (WKTV) - A month-long investigation into cologne thefts from two stores in New Hartford has come to a close and resulted in the arrest of two individuals.

According to New Hartford Police, the first incident occurred on December 11 at Ulta Beauty Supply in Consumer Square after an employee noticed that a large amount of cologne was missing from the store. A review of store surveillance cameras from the day prior showed a female and male enter the store and work together to conceal more than $2,200 worth of cologne and then exit the store, police said.

A week later on December 17, authorities say the two were seen by store security in J.C. Penney's in Sangertown Square Mall taking more than $1,500 worth of cologne and exiting the store.

The female, Kortney F. Servatius 24 of Barneveld was apprehended by J.C. Penny security but the male was not. Authorities said that at the time of her arrest, Servatius was found to be in possession of a bag used to defeat the stores electronic security device as well as a hypodermic needle. Police said they also discovered that Servatius had an active Arrest Warrant for dangerous drugs out of the El Paso County Sheriff's Office in El Paso, Colorado.

She was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, criminal possession of an anti-security item and criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument. She was sent to the Oneida County Correctional Facility where she is being held as a Fugitive from Justice.

Police say they were later able to identify the male from J.C. Penny as Richard Brown, 35 of Utica. He was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny on January 18 and sent to the Oneida County Correctional Facility on no bail.

Authorities have since also charged both Servatius and Brown for an additional charge of fourth-degree grand larceny for stealing the cologne from Ulta on December 10.
