HERKIMER, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Herkimer County Sheriff's Office Welfare Fraud Unit has announced two arrests in unrelated welfare fraud cases.
Cheri L. Grimshaw, 39, of Poland, was charged with fourth-degree welfare fraud, fourth-degree grand larceny and offering a false instrument for filing. Grimshaw was processed and released with an appearance ticket returnable Herkimer village Court at later date. Authorities say Grimshaw fraudulently received $1,188 worth of benefits over a period of time because of unreported income.
Arthur W. Brower, 49, of Ilion has been charged with offering a false instrument for filing and was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Village of Herkimer Court at a later date. Authorities say Brower falsified information to the Department of Social Services upon filing for welfare benefits.
