Two couples charged for stealing from Herkimer Wal-Mart

HERKIMER, N.Y. (WKTV) - Two couples are facing charges after police say they stole more than $500 worth of merchandise from the Herkimer Wal-Mart.

According to Herkimer Police, the group is reported to have filled a shopping cart full of clothing and other merchandise (valued at more than $500) and then exited the store via the garden center doors.

The group was confronted by loss prevention and returned to the store, at which point Herkimer Police responded and took the following suspects into custody:

*Annamae Leonard, 23, of Sauquoit, and her fiancé Nicholas S. Leddick, 28, also of Sauquoit

*Becky Skaine, 29, of Utica, and her fiancé Jeremy Austin, 25, also of Utica.

All four were charged with petit larceny and released on appearance tickets to return to Herkimer Village Court on February 1, 2012
