Two face drug charges after Rome search warrant execution

(WKTV) - Two people face charges after they allegedly had $3,000 in drugs in a room at the Econo Lodge in Rome, Rome police said.

Kent G. "Buddha" Burgess, 28, was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminally using drug paraphernalia and on a bench warrant for false personation.

Mayoh Bennett-Cunningham, 27, was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminally using drug paraphernalia.

According to authorities, after a three-month investigation, members of the Rome Police Department served a warrant around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday on a room at the Econo Lodge at 145 Whitesboro St. in Rome. Police say during the search, 30 bags of heroin packaged for sale, along with another 11.3 grams of heroin were seized, as well as 5.6 grams of cocaine and 4.4 grams of marijuana. Cash, packaging material and drug paraphernalia were also located, officials said. The street value of the drugs is about $3,000.

The two were held overnight pending arraignment in Rome City Court.
