Two face drug charges after Verona traffic stop

(WKTV) - Two men face drug charges after a traffic stop in Verona on Thursday morning, the Oneida County Sheriff's Office said.

Deon A. Williams, 21, of Elizabeth Street in Utica, is charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, unlawful possession of marijuana and speeding. Derrick Coleman, 24, of Stanwix Street in Rome, is charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree.

According to authorities, around 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, a car driven by Williams was pulled over on State Route 365 in the Town of Verona by the Oneida County Sheriff's Office Patrol Division. While conducting the stop, deputies smelled marijuana. A search of the vehicle led to the seizure of cocaine, marijuana and currency, authorities say.

The two were sent to the Oneida County Correctional Facility.
