Two face drug charges after search warrant execution

(WKTV) - Two area men face drug charges after the Oneida County Drug Enforcement Task Force presented a search warrant April 23 in New York Mills.

Blake D. Benedict, 20, of Main Street in New York Mills, and Justin M. Daz, 21, of the 7000 block of Main Street in Clark Mills, are charged with criminal possession of marijuana in the second degree and two counts criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree.

According to officials, the task force, with the assistance of the New York Mills Police Department and the Oneida County Sheriff's Office Emergency Response Team, served the warrant around 6 a.m. April 23. Two loaded firearms, more than $3,000 in cash, more than two pounds of high-grade marijuana, 1.25 ounces of hydrocodone and 18 grams of cocaine were seized.

The two were sent to Oneida County jail in lieu of bail.
