(WKTV) - Two men face drug-related charges after a traffic stop on the New York State Thruway near Utica, New York State Police said.

Carlos R. De La Cruz-Mota, 29, of Utica, and Ricardo N. Otero, 20, of St. Lawrence, Mass., are charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the first degree.

According to officials, troopers stopped a 2004 Dodge Stratus on Tuesday for speeding. An investigation led to a search of the car, where troopers say a half kilo of cocaine with a street value of more than $10,000 and $100,000 in cash were found.

The State Police Community Narcotics Team assisted in the investigation. The two are being held in the Oneida County Jail.
