Two killed in Herkimer County crash

FAIRFIELD, N.Y. (WKTV) - A driver and a passenger are both dead following a car accident in Herkimer County, according to New York State Police.

Authorities say 23-year-old Jordon Gross, of Middleville, and 23-year-old Zackary Edwards, of Little Falls, were both killed.

Gross was driving on State Route 28 with Edwards as a passenger. The driver lost control of the car and went off the roadway, hitting several trees, law enforcement officials said.

Gross was pronounced dead at scene.

Edwards was airlifted to St. Elizabeth Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Their causes of death are pending autopsies.

Police say speed was determined to be a factor and the investigation is pending.
