Two officers injured as police try to take man into custody

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Two police officers in the City of Utica suffered injuries while attempting to take a man into custody for the sale and distribution of cocaine.

According to Utica Police, a search warrant was executed Friday, February 8 at a Schuyler Street address for Jesse Brown, 30. Police say Brown fled from police in his SUV and a foot pursuit later ensued on the 1100 block of Parker Street where Brown resisted arrest and fought with police. Police said a TASER was deployed against Brown and he was eventually taken into custody.

Authorities said that during Brown's arrest he tried to dispose of "crack" cocaine which was recovered.

He has been charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, obstructing governmental administration, resisting arrest, harassment, reckless driving, aggravated unlicesed operation and several other vehicle and traffic infractions.

Authorities said two police officers sustained injuries while attempting to take Brown in custody.

Further charges may be pending, police said.
