Two taken to hospital after motorcycle accident

FLOYD, N.Y. (WKTV) - Two people were taken to the hospital following a motorcycle crash on Sunday night in the Town of Floyd.

According to the Oneida County Sheriff's Office, Frank Aiello, 36, of Lee Center was driving west on a motorcycle on State Route 365 in the Town of Floyd.

As he approached the intersection of Middle Road, authorities say a pickup truck traveling west and driven by Michael Carpenter, 42, of Rome was slowing to make a left turn.

Authorities said Aiello attempted to pass the truck on the right side of the road near the shoulder. Aiello's motorcycle struck the rear corner of Carpenter's truck and caused the motorcycle to go out of control.

The motorcycle slid on the pavement a short distance and left the roadway into a grassy area adjacent to Middle Road, the Sheriff's Office siad.

Aiello and his passenger, Nicole Drennen, 28, of Lee Center were both ejected from the motorcycle.

Both Aiello and Drennen were treated by members of Floyd Fire Department and transported by AmCare to St. Elizabeth Medical Center for treatment Carpenter was not injured in the crash.

The Sheriff's Office said the incident is still under investigation.
