UFD: Blown-in insulation credited with limiting house damage in North Utica Fire

By ANDREW DONOVAN

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Firefighters responded to a garage fire in North Utica and stopped the flames from spreading to the main structure early Saturday afternoon.

According to the Utica Fire Marshall on site, the blaze at 426 Van Roen Drive destroyed the garage and damaged the back corner of the house.

426 Van Roen Drive is also the address of Any Time Bait and Tackle, a small businesses that was apparently run out of the home.

The fire marshall noted that the inside of the house was not damaged and he credits blow-in insulation from containing the flames.

National Grid also responded to the scene. The electrical box will need to be replaced before the residents can move back into the home.

The neighboring home also suffered minor damage.
