UPD: Man claims child isn't his when dropped off by school bus, cocaine found in home
UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - A Utica man, the father of two young children, was arrested Friday night at his North Utica home. Gary Kingsley, age 31, of 1 Minot Place, faces drug and child endangerment charges after he denied to Birnie Bus employees being the parent of a child being dropped off by a school bus to the Minot Place address.
Utica police were told by the Bernie Bus employees that Kingsley usually meets his four year old son to take him off the bus. But, Friday evening, when Kingsley didn’t come out for the child, the school bus monitor brought the boy to the door. According to the police, as the monitor returned to the bus, the child was seen running from the house and crying. The Bernie Bus employees say that Kingsley returned the boy to the school bus and denied being the father of the boy. The police were called. When officers arrived, they observed that Kingsley was under the influence and upset. Kingsley told the police that there was a two year old girl in the house. When officer’s entered the residence they saw, out in the open, a bag of cocaine, crack and marijuana, as well as alcohol and drug paraphernalia. Kingsley’s two year old daughter was found sleeping in a crib, wearing a soiled diaper. The police report said that it appeared that the diaper had not in changed in some time. Utica Police contacted Child Protective Services. The grandparents of the two young children took custody of the pair. Kingsley was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, both are Class B felonies, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, two counts of criminally using drug paraphernalia in the second degree and unlawful possession of marijuana. Gary Kingsley was also charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. - |
