UPD: Man commits series of violent acts on girlfriend

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Police have arrested a Utica man following a domestic violence with his girlfriend.

According to Utica Police, 22- year-old Delqwon Gilmore allegedly was violent towards his girlfriend at a Whitesboro Street apartment. He allegedly punched and kicked her in the legs and back, grabbed her by her hair and dragged her to a couch and choked her.

Police say he then continued and slammed her head against a wall, smashed a ceramic "knick knack" over her head, repeatedly hit her with an extension cord, using it like a whip, repeatedly struck her with boots.

Police then say Gilmore picked up an iron, held the victim over her head, while threatening to kill her with it, and would not let the victim off the couch.

Gilmore also exclaimed that he would beat her while using expletives.

Gilmore is charged with aggravated criminal contempt, menacing, criminal obstruction of breathing, unlawful imprisonment and
assault.

It is also alleged that Gilmore ripped the door frame off his apartment door and told the victim that he would claim that she broke into his apartment.

At the time of the offense, there was an Utica City Court order of protection in effect.

Police say that Gilmore was arraigned and sent to the Oneida County Jail.
