UPD: Man robs Salvation Army employee making bank deposit

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Utica Police arrested a man who allegedly robbed a Salvation Army employee while she was making a deposit to a bank.

According to authorities, the employee was depositing money to the Adirondack Bank on Genesee Street around 8:00 p.m. on Saturday when she robbed.

The employee gave police officers a description of the man. Just a little while later, police say they found a person matching that description in the parking lot of GPO Federal Credit Union in Utica.

The suspect attempted to run, but police say he was taken into custody.

The suspect was identified as 23-year-old Jovan Mullenax. The Salvation Army money was found in his possession along with quantities of heroin.

Mullenax was charged with robbery and criminal possession of a controlled substance.
