UPD: Man stabbed after attempted robbery

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Utica Police are investigating a robbery/stabbing complaint that occurred in the area of the 1500 block of Genesee Street in the City of Utica.

Police Sunday asked for the public's help in getting information. The incident occurred on Friday at around 10:00 p.m.

The male victim told Utica Police officers he was walking to the store from his home when an unknown male approached him and demanded money. The victim was stabbed in the lower stomach area when he scuffled with the suspect.

The victim described his assailant as follows: black male, small framed, in his late teens; 5'0" tall, last seen wearing a Nike hooded sweatshirt, white sneakers and dark pants.

The victim was taken to St. Elizabeth Medical Center for treatment. His injury is described as non-life threatening.
