UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - With a little help from their friends (online friends, that is), the Utica Police Department has made an arrest in a January purse-snatching in the North Utica Wal-Mart.

On January 24, Utica Police posted photos of a man who stole a purse from the car of a female shopper at the North Utica Wal-Mart the day prior. Authorities were looking for help in idnetifying the man who was seen taking a purse from a shopping cart

Just a few weeks later, police said they were pleased to announce that with the help of some of their "Facebook" and "YouTube" fans, Investigator Edward Smith was able to identify, locate and arrest the suspect - Nicholas Morrison, 30, of Remsen.

Morrison was still in possession of the female's purse and most of the contents. Morrison was charged with five counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property.

Police said they are grateful for the public's assistance in identifying Nicholas Morrison as the suspect in this case.
