UPD gears up for 2012 Brothers Forever Ride

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Utica Police Department officials and local residents are gearing up for the 2012 Brothers Forever Ride to be held Saturday.

The fundraiser is a 110 mile motorcycle ride in honor of fallen Utica Police Officer Thomas Lindsey, who was gunned down on April 12, 2007 during a traffic stop.

Hundreds of UPD officers, members of law enforcement from surrounding areas, and local residents are expected to turn out for the ride to remember a man who wan an important part of the community.

"He did so much for the area, he was an individual and everything he had, he appreciated," said Sergeant A.J. Uryniak, of the Utica Police Department.

Registration for the ride begins at 9 a.m at Utica City Hall. The ride is expected to last all afternoon and conclude at the F.X. Matt Brewery.

Cost is $20 per rider and all proceeds benefit the Thomas Lindsey Memorial Fund, which helps provide money for local programs in the area.
