UPD investigate possible shots fired on Andes Ave in Utica

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - A cab driver tells police that he saw a vehicle window shot out at what was allegedly a birthday party in Utica.

Utica Police responded to the area of 3 Andes Ave around 4:28 a.m. on Saturday, May 11 and found two large groups fighting at a house party. When officers arrived, they say those same people dispersed on foot and in cars.

Police say a man who lives at the home, Carl Schorer, 52, claimed to be throwing a birthday party and was issued an appearance ticket for loud music.

Later that morning, officers spoke with a driver of Ace Taxi Cab who said that while he was waiting for a customer in the area of the house, he had heard a whistling noise and saw the back window of a vehicle instantly shattered. Believing his vehicle had been shot at, the taxi driver fled the scene.

The Utica Police Department is asking that anyone who may have witnessed this crime to call the Criminal Investigation Division at 315-223-3503.
