U.S. Men's Soccer Team begins World Cup journey

By SPENCER DAVIDSON

(WKTV) - After four long years, the U.S. Men's Soccer Team finally begins another quest to capture it's first-ever World Cup, Monday.

The United States National Team is getting set to take on Ghana in their first match of the group stage in the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

The U.S. will be looking for revenge on Ghana, who eliminated them in the Round of 16 at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.

The team is playing in what many consider as the "Group of Death," but Americans still believe this team can do something special.

"Our new tactical sense will help us get past Ghana," said Perry Nizzi, Hamilton College Men's Soccer Coach. "And we'll catch Portugal getting past that Germany game where they are not totally prepared for us.

"The U.S. is one of those dark horses with France that could put a scare in the top teams."

The U.S. will put their hopes on the line beginning with their first match against Ghana, Monday, at 6 p.m. ET.
