United Way establishes fund to help Valley Shooting victims

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - United Way of the Valley and Greater Utica Area has announced the "Valley Support Fund," created to help victims of the recent shootings in Mohawk and Herkimer.

A committee comprised of community leaders, elected officials, business owners, law enforcement and non-profit representatives from the Valley will oversee the fund to ensure donations will be utilized to best meet the needs of the victims and others affected by this recent tragedy.

Donations can be made to the Valley Support Fund. Text “UNITED” to 52000. $10 will be added to your phone bill and directly donated to the fund. Officials say that standard messaging rates may apply.

Checks made payable to United Way c/o Valley Support Fund can be mailed to our Herkimer office at 401 East German Street, Herkimer, 13350. Contribute via credit card by contacting United Way at (315) 733-4691.

Donations to the Valley Support Fund will be accepted now through April 21.
