United Way's graffiti-busters take to the streets of Utica

By NEWSChannel 2 Staff

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - When there's something weird written in your hood, who ya' gonna call?

The self-proclaimed busters of spray painted messages were out and about throughout Utica neighborhoods on Thursday with their first stop being the Tartan Textiles Building next to the Utica Memorial Auditorium

More than 100 volunteers from the area stepped forward to take part in the United Way's Day of Action.

From elementary school students to retired seniors, a record number of people were out giving their time.

"It's a shame that we have to do this kind of thing around the city," said Utica Resident Janice Jennings, who was volunteering. "We like to have the city beautified, it's a shame to see it."

The large group of graffiti buster volunteers also made other stops here in Utica as well.
