UTICA, N.Y. – Utica College and the Upper Mohawk Valley Auditorium Authority, the governing body that owns and operates the Utica Memorial Auditorium, has announced a five-year extension to the lease agreement involving the College's use of the Auditorium as its home hockey venue. The lease includes a five-year renewal option after 2017.
The UC women's and men's hockey teams have utilized the “Aud” for practices and home games since the teams' inception in 2001. In that time, the venue, which U.S. College Hockey Online labeled the top facility in Division III college hockey, has provided both a significant home-ice advantage for student-athletes as well as high quality, affordable entertainment for regional hockey fans. The women's and men's teams have a .641 combined winning percentage at the Aud, while the men's team has consistently set Division III attendance records.
In addition, the partnership between the College and the Auditorium Authority has promoted the vitality of many businesses in the vicinity of the arena.
Louis Steppello, chair of the Auditorium Authority, says, “The Utica Memorial Auditorium has a great heritage in providing a quality of life to central New York. This history continues with great events throughout its 50-plus years of operation. It also has provided professional and local sporting events to its long heritage. We have now added one more trophy to its great history – Utica College hockey. The Auditorium Authority is pleased that Utica College will continue to call the Aud home and provide the area's residents with excellent, competitive hockey. We are proud to be an integral part of Utica College's success, both on and off the ice. We look forward to developing an even deeper relationship that benefits the Aud, UC, and the area as a whole.”
“We are excited to extend this important partnership,” says David Fontaine, Utica College director of athletics and physical education. “The Aud has helped provide our students a first-rate athletic experience, and, notwithstanding its long tradition of hosting professional and high school hockey, it has carved itself a special place within the college hockey world.”
In effort to improve the fan experience and address increasing demand for priority seating among both season and individual-game ticket holders, the College is implementing a new ticket and seating policy.
• All tickets for men's hockey games (both season and individual-game) will have assigned seat locations (section-row-seat); general admission seating will be eliminated. Individual-game tickets will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Advanced sale tickets will be available through the Auditorium box office.
• Individual-game ticket prices for all available seat locations remain $6 for adults and $2 for non-UC students.
• Season tickets for all 28 regular season women's and men's home games are $50.
• UC students, faculty and staff will receive complimentary individual-game tickets by presenting their Utica College ID at the box office during normal business hours or at the ticket window on game nights.
