(WKTV) - A new chapter is starting for freshmen who moved into Utica College on Friday.

Parents and students spent the day unloading boxes and getting settled in before classes start.

It's an exciting new beginning for these students. For many, it's the first time leaving home and starting life on their one.

One students from Connecticut says she chose Utica college because of the great occupational therapy program. Another says she was drawn in by the construction management classes.

And everyone is excited to start making memories.

"It's really friendly," said Jahkwaina McCrea. "Everyone's really nice, and it just feels like home here."

The rest of the students move in over the weekend, and classes start Tuesday.
