By WKTV News

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Nearly two dozen recruits from across the state, and some from the local region, are participating in a live burn Monday and Tuesday.

It's happening at the Fire Training Grounds on Leland Avenue in Utica.

The training is the conclusion of an extensive 14-week program that consists of several different firefighting operations.

But the live burn, is the first time the cadets get hands-on training with the real thing.

Their skills are tested in numerous evaluations throughout the two-day exercise.

The class consists of 23 recruits from 11 fire districts.
